In the Magic® universe, the Cho-Arrim people live on the plains beneath the mesa upon which sits great, sprawling, corrupt Mercadia City. At first unnoticed by their noisome neighbors, the Cho-Arrim grew and multiplied, and soon vastly outnumbered the urbanites. Their simple agrarian way of life and pacifist stance allowed the Mercadians increasingly to exploit them.
With economic growth came ever greedier and more invasive policies regarding the Cho-Arrim, some of which was intentionally degrading and humiliating. This continued on for some centuries, Mercadia becoming exasperated on the one hand at the growing civil disobedience among free Cho-Arrim, on the other hand at their fragility, as thousands sickened and died in the work camps in the shadow of the mesa.
In the midst of this impasse, Heaven answered the embittered prayers of the Cho-Arrim in the form of a great celestial dragon...
